Professor of Politics, Babson College
Stephen Deets is a Professor of Politics and Chair of the History and Society Division at Babson College, where he teaches courses on comparative and international politics as well as sustainability. Grounded in interests around minority rights in post-communist Europe, he has a particular interest in how minority politics and nationalism intersect with governance and public policy in both this region and in Lebanon. In this vein he has written about how formal and informal consociationalism impacts health care reform, social welfare, and agricultural policies in Bosnia-Hercegovina and Lebanon and about nationalism and urban governance in Lebanon and North Macedonia. He has recently published articles in Ethnopolitics, Problems of Post-Communism, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, and Middle East Policy.
