The Prolonged Dissolution of the USSR

What impact did the USSR’s breakup have on subsequent conflicts in the post-Soviet region? To what
extent are current conflicts over sovereignty the consequences or manifestations of an extended
dissolution of the Soviet empire? We address these questions on February 22, 2024, the second
anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion and war against Ukraine. Join us for a conversation
about these questions, and the intricate interplay between Russian politics and sovereignty
conflicts in the post-Soviet region, featuring leading scholars who have published influential
work on critical aspects of the causes and consequences of the USSR’s breakup.
