Dmitri Trenin is director of the Carnegie Moscow Center and author of numerous books, mostly recently Russia (2019), What Is Russia Up to in the Middle East? (2017) and Should We Fear Russia? (2016). From 1972–1993 he served in the Soviet and Russian armed forces. He has a PhD from the Academy of Sciences US-Canada Institute.
