In their new book Taking Stock of Shock: Social Consequences of the 1989 Revolutions (Oxford University Press, 2021) Kristen Ghodsee and Mitchell Orenstein examine the results of the transition to capitalism and democracy in post-socialist Europe. They look at the impact of the transition for the inhabitants of the region in all its dimensions: political, economic, social and demographic.
