2020 Nationalities Papers Prize

For the second year in a row, we are proud to announce the winners of the Nationalities Papers Photography Prize in Nationalism and Ethnic Studies. The annual competition rewards scholars for original photographs taken during their fieldwork. These are judged in terms of their content, synthesis, and visually compelling insights about nationalism, ethnicity, or migration.

Each submission is accompanied by a brief description of how the photograph relates to the fieldwork of the applicant. The six winners of the 2020 Nationalities Papers Photography Prize are listed below, and their award-winning photos will be printed on the covers of Nationalities Papers during 2021.
